Hearing Tests in Winnipeg

Do I need a hearing test?

Every adult should have a baseline hearing test. More frequent checks are highly recommended over the age of 65.

What is a hearing Test?

You will respond to a series of beeps and words, then be challenged to follow conversation in a noisy restaurant-like setting.

A Detailed Explanation:

  1. 1Intake. We first discuss your main reasons for attending.
  2. 2Otoscopy. We take a look inside your ears using a video otoscope so you can see what we see on the big screen.
  3. 3Tympanometry. A pre-test check to ensure your eardrum mobility and middle-ear pressure is within normal range.
  4. 4Pure-tone audiometry. Using different beeps, we find the quietest sounds you can detect across different frequencies… from deep bass sounds to sharp treble sounds.
  5. 5Extended high-frequency audiometry. In some cases, we may check beyond the typically tested frequency range (up to 20,000 Hz) to identify hidden changes in your hearing.
  6. 6Speech audiometry & speech-in-noise testing. We check your ability to repeat words back, both in quiet and in a noisy restaurant-like setting.
  7. 7Results / Real-Ear Measurement. If hearing loss is detected, we complete another test with hearing aids in so that you can immediately hear the difference.
